Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
